Dolomiten - Highlights

short tour description/route characteristics

This round is certainly one of the most spectacular that the Dolomites have to offer. No less than 13 passes, 5 of which are over 2000 m high, are on the programme - in other words, bends and hairpin bends to the limit! As soon as you have passed one pass, the next one follows immediately!

From St. Kassian it starts with the Passo di Valparola (2192 m) and the Passo di Falzarego (2105 m). In the direction of Cortina d'Ampezzo it goes constantly downhill to branch off to the right just before the village to the next 2000m to the Passo di Giau (2233m). Continuing south, the route leads over the Passo Staulanza (1773 m). Until this point the passes were well developed and mostly wide. This is now changing. The Passo Duran (1601 m) belongs to the smaller variety. Behind Agordo the next pass begins: first the Forcola Aurine (1299 m) is followed immediately by the Passo di Cereda (1369 m). But that is not all: after the still quite wide section of Passo di Gobbera (988 m) follows the mostly narrow Passo di Brocon (1691 m). Via Castello Tesino the route leads over the Passo Forcella to Telve. Here begins the fantastic route up to Passo Manghen (2047 m). After the descent towards Cavalese, the route continues to Canazei. Here begins the Pordoijoch (2239 m), followed by the Passo di Campolongo (1875 m). Via Corvara and Stern we return to St. Kassian.
