The Swiss part of the route in Appenzeller-Land is characterised by hilly but extensive landscapes, green meadows, relatively dense population, beautiful views of the valley and Lake Constance, and medium to wide and well asphalted roads with little traffic. This tour is especially recommended in spring, when the meadows are covered with white and yellow flowers, the fruit trees are in blossom and the mountains are mostly still covered with snow. The route first leads through old towns and fishing up to the Riedberg Pass. Via Hirsau and Schwarzenberg it goes up to Bödele and then into the valley to Dornbirn. The way via Au to Altstätten is not very attractive, but the following roads are all the more beautiful. Via Mohren, Schachen and Oberegg the path leads up to St. Anton. There you can enjoy a particularly beautiful panoramic view both to the left and right. The route continues via Trogen

(turn sharp left there) to Appenzell and continue to Urnäsch. Here you don't follow the road to Schwägalp at first, but turn left and a short time later right, towards Hemberg. At the entrance to Hemberg the restaurant Hörnli invites you to a pit stop (usually there are several motorcycles here). The terrace offers a beautiful view of the valley and the Säntis in the background. Keeping left from Hemberg, the route leads to Neu St. Johann and then to Schwägalp. If the view is good, a cable car ride up the Säntis, which offers a great panorama, is worthwhile here. Via Urnäsch, Hundwil and Teufen the route returns to Trogen. Keep left there and the path continues on to Heiden. Beautiful views down to Lake Constance accompany the rest of the way. In Wolfhalden a side road branches off via Walzenhausen to St. Margrethen. The following path to Bregenz is mostly busy, but from Lochau the fun begins again and the trip to Eichenberg compensates for the previous traffic jam. In Eichenberg there is again a fascinating view of Lake Constance. In Moeggers, the road goes down again to the left to reach the Queralpenstrasse, which is followed to Simmerberg. The tour ends with the route via Harbatshofen, Missen, Zaumberg and Immenstadt.
