The Salzkammergut with its multitude of lakes offers postcard motives in abundance. The focus of this tour is therefore clearly on the scenic attractions. Of the many sights that cannot be included on this day tour, the following are just a few examples: the front and the rear Gosausee (a hike of several hours), which can be reached from Gosau, the Dachstein Caves, in particular the Giant Ice Cave and the Mamuth Cave on the Hallstatt Lake, the Altausseer Lake with a panoramic road as well as the Schafberg near St. Wolfgang, which offers a wonderful panoramic view. Nevertheless, this round trip offers a variety of impressions that emphasize the beauty of the region. Especially the Hallstätter-See with the high Dachstein in the background, the Traunsee, which is surrounded by high flanks in the southern part, as well as the Postalmstraße should be mentioned here.
First the trail leads through the Lammer Valley and Gosau to Lake Hallstatt. Hallstatt itself, closely pressed against the steep mountain flanks, is worth a visit. Via Bad Aussee and Bad Ischl the path leads to the Traunsee - a wonderful spot! Halfway to Gmunden, a side road branches off to Steinbach am Attersee. Along the Mondsee it goes on to the Wolfgang-See. In Strobl the idyllic Postalm Road branches off. Via Golling, Bischofshofen and St. Johann the starting point of the tour is then reached.
